Graham Addinall

The all-time stylish Englishman, Graham Addinall, is a multi-talented personality. Driven by a strong imagination and an impressive career as both a writer and a menswear designer, he is now the Fashion Director at the Copenhagen-based Dossier Magazine.

/ Please, describe yourself in just 3 words?

Grey-haired, English Copenhagener.

/ What do you do for a living?

I wear a lot of different hats! I started as a psychologist, drifted sideways into fashion, and ended up as a menswear designer. That then lead to styling. Currently, I’m the Fashion Director of Dossier magazine, but also write copy for many companies and teach design in a college in Barcelona.

/ Your style in short?

Classic with an edge.

/ What does fashion mean to you as a creative?

Clothing can be a strong visual representation of your personality. I love menswear because the language is (for most people) subtle and discrete, but you can still make a statement.

/ What do you look for when shopping clothes?

Quality and longevity for the ‘framework’ (tailoring, coats, and shoes), then have fun with cheaper things like knits, sweatshirts, and accessories.

/ What’s your SELECTED story?

It was an honour (and a surprise) to be included in the SELECTED Stories campaign. I’ve always been a cultural sponge who absorbs as much as possible from highlife to lowlife as I think it’s important to see as big a picture as possible. SELECTED for me encapsulate this - they create collections that include all the basics that you need but also strong design elements that make a statement about who you are.
